We've been patiently waiting for a Boy Scout to complete his Eagle Scout Project, which is mapping out the grove. I've just been given word this morning that his project is almost complete, but won't be available until early June.
Joanie, the kids and I will be spending the night at Pamplin Grove later this month and I will be formulating my own "map" to show where all the camping sites/areas are.
As stated earlier, there are a handful of larger sites "up-top" near the cookshack and dining area that we plan to use for people with disabilities and folks with larger trailers. There is also one huge group camping area "down-below" the cookshack, which is adjacent to the meadow.
I'm guessing there is about a 15' difference in elevation between the cookshack and group camping area, with a set of stairs between the two.
The county allows tent camping in the meadow and I've just been given word this morning from Ranger Pat, that we will also be able to "walk" teardrops out into the meadow through the access area at the far end, for those wishing to camp in the meadow. (No fires will be allowed in the meadow)
Given the new restriction of 250 people, (Not 250 teardrops) concerns of space should not even be a concern for anyone...
Stay tuned for the map, which will be posted on the Maps page.

Dean, I just about have to place my teardrop with my car. It's that heavy. Also, do you have any pics of the camping (trailer) areas to post yet?

Gage,
A good place for you will be in one of the large campsites up top.
I'm going to try and see if I can round up a golf cart, so people staying up top who have difficulty with stairs can take the road to get to the lower group camping area to visit or take pictures.
I have a photo preview of Pamplin on T&TTT located HERE.
Joanie, the kids and I will be spending the night at Pamplin again in a few weeks.
Joanie has the grove rented out for one of her class activities during the day, so we will have the place to ourselves afterwards.
I'll be mapping the place and taking more pictures...

Courtney,
Sue was the first person to bring a teardrop into Pamplin and Jan was a close second, but if you and Roy spent a night there by mistake during Redwoods Revisited... CONGRATULATIONS!!!
You guys were the first ones to camp there in a tear!!!!

Dean, all I need is a space big enough to put the wagon through. It's just that once it's in place, I don't think we'll be able to move it around unless it's hard ground.

Aren't you and Tanya gonna want to take the wagon and go do some sight seeing?

we didn't know!

in the morning, roy commented on the lack of tears, and took another look at the directions. we stopped reading at the line that described pamplin grove. completely missed that other line about going another mile or so when we pulled up at 4am.

we were able to slip out before too many of the other folks from the event there woke up. (thankfully) although they thought we were part of the crowd...i think it was roy's sumo shirt and panama hat combination.

Heck yes. Once I get the tear located, I'll unhook and move the wagon (may bring the truck up after all) out of the area and put it in the proper parking area.
