Gonna go take a cat nap, then my boy and I are gonna go roust TDN.
We're heading up to La Pine, OR for our first ever IDOS event.
My daughter decided that she needed to stay behind because she's too busy with schoolwork.
We hope to get there by 10:00 am.
I'll post our findings when we get back on Sunday...

Kai,
The International Dutch Oven Society's Fall Convention was awesome!!!
They put on an outstanding event with really good classes, great food and even better people. (Yeap, just like teardroppers)
I really enjoyed these three classes... Sour dough, Sauces and How to turn your DO into a smoker. (The sauce class was about "layering" flavor witrh sauces)
There was an awesome vendors display too.
They had a way cool silent auction and my winning bid gained me that ellusive 5" Lodge I've been after. The cool part about winning the oven... It is the last of the last, the last one to come from Lodge. Well... Unless they start making them again.
Everyone recieved a coupon for Sportsmans Warehouse, located in Bend, OR. (About 20 miles North of the convention)
We decided what the heck, let's drive up and see what they got...
I ended up buying another 14" so I can do twice as much pizza now.
After using the coupon, I paid 34 dollars for it. (I paid 80 on my first one)
It's really cool to see how well the dutch oven is doing these days with the masses, it's making a comeback, just like the teardrop trailer.
Meeting the folks that are behind the scenes with IDOS was great. I gained a heightened admiration for the society after learning that it's all volunteer, nobody gets paid. All the monies go to promoting growth within the Society. Oh... and way cool souvenirs too.
I'm gonna try and talk the boys from Fortuna into going IDOS one more time... We have an event next weekend, a little further down the road from Pamplin Grove. I'm gonna see if I can smoke something in a 14" DCO.
Oh, fogot to tell you... After our little jaunt up to Bend, we saw a very rare sight near La Pine upon our return. We saw a 15' geyser go off for about 40 minutes straight... That was after I pulled the car forward!!! (LOL)

 This was one GREAT event!  I could really appreciate all the time and organization that goes in to putting on a gathering of this caliber.  The food tasting was awesome and I went around six times as they kept cooking up new dishes to taste.  I also loved the fact that I could lay out by the swimming pool and still get to see/hear the DO workshops and classes.
What a luxury after a LONG drive up.....   Again, it is an event well worth going to whether you are a beginning, novice or experienced DO cook.

Here is a website to checkout- these were Seattle Dutch Oven guys that give classes, demos, and are do personal chefs..Puget Sound Chapter.

Kudos to the IDOS Officers, Event Organizers, Chapters & Vendors who attended and cooked up some really fine foods.

Information is out about the 2007 IDOS. It will be in Lapine Or again. Dates are 8-31 and 9-1-2007. It is the same for 2 years then goes on to a different community. You can get the info on the IDOS website at the Central Oregon Chapter. It sounds like a lot of fun and good information. It is going to be held downtown this year as it has grown. They will be offering dry camping for $20 for folks with T&TTT.

You all have a good time. I wish I could be there. I should at least cook something in CI. Maybe waffles.
