:veryhappy: Lots of repeat events from last time plus some new ones.
A waffle cook-off is something new and definitely tasty!
Last time I asked people to let me know what they like to do at Gatherings.  You might check the archives to see some of the events/activities we had previously.  We make it so you can come and go if you'd like, or stay put and just enjoy what's going on around the Grove.

Last time I set up a kid's corner in the CookShack, I mean Cook Palace, so that's why I requested ages of children.  I also had games of various kinds available in addition to the volleyball and horseshoes supplied at the Grove.  Bring a favorite game to play such as cards, cribbage, board game, etc. if you'd like.  These gatherings have a variety of people, so we will continue to provide optional activities such as Banana Slug Races, Forest Scavenger Hunt, etc.  Sorry, but I will not be cooking up any Dutch Oven Banana Slugs this year, although everyone who tried them said they were delicious and tasted like....no, not chicken, but BANANAS!

You are pretty deep in the redwoods where we will be camping.  Lots of rugged terrain across the river and woods surrounding the area.  You CAN get coons.....the site has garbage cans/recycling areas that have bear proof locks.  We also caution people who bring their dogs to keep them leashed and/or close by under a watchful eye as we are in the middle of wildcat territory>  our school mascot is a wildcat > and don't want to put your animal at risk by allowing them to wander freely through the forest.

Most of the "animal problems" at Pamplin can occur if you leave your food out unattended at the picnic tables.  The blue jays and squirrels tend to congregate and party at these spots if they see things left out.  Because of the close proximity to the river, you may have animals passing through or around the perimeter of the camps to get access to the water.  Otherwise, major sightings and movement of bear or wildcats (AKA mountain lion, cougar, puma, panther, etc) are  monitored by the park rangers who inform campers when they've had reported spottings.
Please contact me by PM if you have any other concerns or questions.

You two... er those two are gonna be asked to carve meat again... Back by popular demand!

I'm trying to figure out just who was who... which one was the little friend and which one was the large rough looking one.

Gage...I gotta think up a great fork for you!  I think I can come up with something...don't know if it'll fit in your pocket however, but it'll be unique!  Just be there for the major eats....like that is in question!  Doug
